Kegging Woodforde Kit
Sorry for posing this very, very basic question. In the past I've always brewed wine, so venturing into beer territory has thrown me a bit.
I bought the Woodfordes 40pt kit and I'm about a day away from kegging it. I noticed that the kit comes with one normal top and one with a valve (presumably for adding CO2 once you've had a few). Does it matter which one I use initially?
Thanks.

I tend to use the one closest to hand if I need to add CO2 I just swap them over its not caused a prob so far as I can see

Doesn't matter one bit but in the life span of beer in a barrel you will need to add co2 at some point so I would just use the co2 cap and save the other for one of those "just in case" moments!

As a newbie, I thought that once you had kegged your beer, if you subsequently removed the cap then that would let in oxygen which would mean the beer would only keep for a couple of days? Have I misunderstood?

its ok if you dont just leave it off I have had to take the top off a keg a few times and no probs The CO2 being heavy just rests on the beer keeping the air out
