As you say, interesting. I've just done a week at Greene King driving their artics all over the place and I'll say only one thing about this proposed plan. Transport costs. GK already bottle beers for all sorts, including St Peter's, and the logistics are complex. Not the least of the problems is the various stuff that will need to go into the beer to make sure it keeps during the journeys. Hope it works but I think it will make the product more expensive and less exclusive.
If you're not living on the edge..... you're taking up too much space!!
Planning: - To get some more brews on now the weather's a bit cooler
Fermenting: - Ginger Beer experiment
Conditioning: - A normal bitter with Styrians
Drinking: - All of it!!
The way I see it going is for Arran Brewery to effectively become a wholesaler, ordering the quantity of beer they need from the micros and distributing it themselves. From there it is but a short step to buying up the names.

Agreed, they will also need to get cask's back.
I don't know how many free houses there are?
Perhaps breweries will go back to being regional.
