Haven't posted in a while but I'm going to post with piccies of my kegerator setup soon I promise...

Anyway, I brewed up the summer ale recipe about 6 weeks back and gave it a good long time in the secondary fermenter to clear. The problem is - I had used this secondary fermenter as the primary fermenter for my ginger beer! Even after loads of scrubbing and sterilising it has given my summer ale a gingery twang.

I'm not sure if it's a bad thing, it definitely makes it quite interesting. I'm just not sure about it yet - gonna cook up a batch of curry over the weekend and try a few pints of it with that, should be pretty good!

Hey - try hairy bikers beer and cheese bread with it .. that could be a winner

(but - leave the eggs out and cut the Parmesan by half.... written with experience!)

Beer will get you through the times of no money better than money will get you through the times of no beer
(with grateful thanks to the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers and slightly adapted)

Its almost impossible to get rid of the ginger aroma from the fermenter after ginger beer. Glad its had a positive effect on your beer though.

A couple of breweries spice up their ales with ginger, I know Badger do one along with Bath ales.

The Blandford Fly by Badger is lovely & I was lucky enough to be passing Bath ales brewery in Bristol the other day so picked up 6 different ales. Shall be trying their spicey ale as they call it tonight!

Try a Chalkies Bark. It's got ginger but not too much. I find the Blandford Fly way to gingery and sweet.
