Go for it Jake. You can't go too wrong with TC, just make sure you keep really clean and all should be cool.

Good luck Jake, the TC is a real winner. When you tell people how you made it, no one believes it!
Have fun!

:o) Good man. Everywhere I go now I look for ingredients/things I can use for the brews. I was in B&Q yesterday looking for an inline cable connector. Took me ages as I kept getting sidetracked!

Belated hello brewing friend!
I keep on meaning to get a TC on, its a great way to start homebrewing. Simple, easy and as long as your clean, little room for problems.

Hi Jake, just started this malarky myself. TC looks very tempting, I'm avoiding right now as I'd probably just down it like apple juice (did that once with a couple of half litre bottles of 8% cider from the shops before I realised, inadvertently trollied within the hour). Let us know how it goes.
Conditioning: Woodfordes Great Eastern
Drinking: Elderflower champagne

ok got most of the hard and soft ware lol, between lidl and wilkensons ....the yeast ive got is 'wine', but havnt got any brewers sugar, found a localish shop but wasnt open today .....i would really like to get this under way this weekend ....so question is it ok to use normal sugar for this cider ??????
sat at pc waiting for help ....cheers

Sugar is sugar so it will fermet (as long as its cane sugar not that beet sugar malarky from silverspoon).
It may taste different but my first batch of kits were done with sugar from the cupboard! Dont let it put you off and if its not quite right then at least you will have some for next time. Im sure all will be fine though.
Have a great one!

Nice one Jake!!! Enjoy your day! You'll find the trouble with the TC is the 'T' bit. It's so Turbo that it's over before you know it and you'll be left wanting to brew something else!
Still, it keeps the missus from moaning!

Hi all
just read this on another forum... sugar is sugar and will all ferment in the same way - beet or cane or invert, all does exactly the same thing. Use anything!
Thanks goes to Aleman for this (didn't post a link to the other forum as its rather bad taste, but credit should go to him)

well its been a while since i have logged .....first demijohn made and drunk, gave a few bottles away and got some good feedback, so now have 2 demijohns on the go (started on tue) ....the first batch due to usual hectic life stay in the demijohn a couple of weeks longer and that was the same for in the bottles ....but time is or the length of time is only a bonus on the taste front
so next batch is going to be timed for xmas hols lol

oh and while these two demijohns are on the go ....named rosie 2 and rosie 3, im going to look at making some ginger beer

Hi Jake. Seems to have gone well for you. Just a couple of tips for you. When I made TC I bought a 5lt bottle of water from Tesco for 85p and used it as a demi-john. I varied the recipe a bit and used 3 lts Apple Juice plus 1 lt White Grape Juice. I added 10 lime leaves as suggested and got something everyone said was great. Never had anything like it before. Real delicate flavour. I used the Champagne Yeast and I reckon it had it's effect. That's the beauty of home brewing. You can make small changes and learn from them as you go along. Good Luck.
Planning: - To get some more brews on now the weather's a bit cooler
Fermenting: - Ginger Beer experiment
Conditioning: - A normal bitter with Styrians
Drinking: - All of it!!

cheers saracen .....those little changes sound good , makes me want to go out and buy a big jug of water and make some 'saracen cider'
the next thing i want to try is straining before bottling ....i dont mind cloudy cider but would like to try to produce a clear n crisp version

I like that idea of adding lime leaves to the cider saracen... although I'd definitely up the splenda as the last thing it needs is more tartness
Hmmm, I wonder what they'd be like in the ginger beer... ginger and lime beer?
Yum yum!
