How to choose bittering hops
Hi guys
Me again, am planning a mini brew tomorrow on my day off and am thinking of doing an IPA with more than one type of hop in it.
I'm planning on chucking a bit of nelson sauvin 13%,galaxy 14% and citra 13% to make a punchy/fruity beer high IBU beer (gonna go with 65 as thus far my brew's aint as punchy as i like), gonna follow a similar recipe to my single hop galaxy IPA i put in a previous post only half the yeild.
Question is i'm what hop would i be best using as a bittering (1st addition hop) hop, i would like to get the most out my hops and thinking the less I put in for just bittering the bigger the flavor I'll get utilizing the hops more at the end of the boil ???
Im gonna do a 60min boil, and bittering hops at 60min, flavour and aroma at 15mins with irish moss and finally steep for 30 mina
Thanks for the advice
Sam

Personally I don't think it makes much difference so I would use the highest alpha and a small amount.

i aggree with greg there, dosnt really matter but everyone has their favourites. I like challenger for ales, and Magnum is a good bittering hop due to the high aa.

Irish moss is used to get a lot of "le crap" to stick together into larger lumps and drop out before transferring the wort to the fermenter. Typically you will use it 15mins from end of boil.
