Hi everyone, ive just moved house so ive put my wherry and nelsons revenge in the garage for the cold part of the fermenation. I was wondering if its too cold will it slow down the process. its pretty cold in there just like being outside. I had a taste of my nelsons revenge last week (3 weeks since kegging it) and was lovely. Not ready yet its cloudy and a bit flat but i can taste the potential. Havent tasted the wherry cause thats in bottles(5 weeks)so ill wait longer. Cheers.Mark

    I'm not sure if there is too cold but I do find my beers take longer to condition in the winter months. Definately not so good for serving either.

    Planning: IPA of some kind + another bitter + Xmas Beer
    Fermenting: FFF Moondance
    Conditioning: I can't remember (Porter)
    Drinking:Turbo Cider, Ringwood 49Er Clone, Summer Lightning, Elderflower Champagne

    Mine too ... my water heater is in (what was) an outside toilet. I've built shelves in there and I start my conditioning off on the top shelf (which is warmer due to the water heater) and move them down over the weeks. There have been times this winter though where it is so cold that even that doesn't work. Doesn't do any harm, just takes a bit longer.

    5 weeks and you're still managing to keep your hands off? You must be a saint. Go on .. have a taste and tell us what it's like ... it's accepted practice to taste along the way :o) I have so many tastes that by the time it's 'ready', there's virtually none left. But we all find that, the last bottle is quite often the best!

    Hi, thanks for the replys. I dont want it to take any longer than it has to so im gonna put them in the celler.Its still cold down there but not like the garage. It snowed again last night so its pretty cold.Yes 5 weeks and still holding on. Its because its in bottles so im waiting a bit longer to taste because ill have to drink the whole bottle once opened even if its watery or a bit cloudy.Cheers.Mark
