Got a bit carried away on Saturday with my first venture into using hops to enhance a kit (youngs bitter),
I put 40g of goldings in the FV with the can contents + the boliling water + spraymalt, the idea the heat would get some flavour out the hops before I topped up with cold water. yeast has done its thing, but I now have all the hops sitting on top of the yeast head, is that ok? or will they go off before I bottle in a week? i'm tempted to stir them back in, but I guess they would just float back up?

cheers
John

Give it a gentle stir so you don't disturb the sediment at the bottom. But provided the hops are in contact with the liquid they'll be doing their job. I often try to use pellet hops rather than leaf for dry-hopping for this reason, as they sink rather than floating.

    Planning: Hardcore IPA clone
    Fermenting: Damson pale
    Conditioning: Morello Cherry Lambic 2
Drinking: Schneider Weisse Tap 7 clone, Morello Cherry Lambic 1, Rauchbier

Thanks for that, gave them a swirl, but they floated back up again, don't think it will be a problem, smelled great so fingers crossed.

    cheers
