OK, if I play with this any longer I'll drive myself insane. So...

Hoperator
Batch Size: 25.00 L
Estimated OG: 1.063 SG
Estimated Color: 11.2 EBC
Estimated IBU: 62.8 IBU
Boil Time: 60 Minutes

7.00 kg Pale Malt (2 Row) UK (5.9 EBC)%
60.00 gm Northern Brewer [10.50 %] (60 min)
40.00 gm Progress [5.20 %] (20 min)
50.00 gm Progress [5.20 %] (15 min) (Aroma)
10.00 gm Northern Brewer [10.50 %] (5 min)
1 tsp Irish Moss (Boil 15.0 min)

SafAle English Ale (S-04)

Keeping it fairly straightforward, good bittering hops and I read that Progress has a sweetish after-taste which should work well with the Northern Brewer. Well .. hoping anyway.
I'm planning on 17th as brewday, but unable to be definite as that is partly out of my hands!

Beer will get you through the times of no money better than money will get you through the times of no beer

He he heh, he said hop. Heh he ha heh. Cool

Damn .. am going to have to put back the brew date a week due to something cropping up on the 17th ... if I brew on the 24th is that a problem?

That's good .... phew (that's also my daughter's birthday so looks like being another 5.30 start or it will eat into her birthday and as much as I love my beer and brewing, nothing gets in the way of my daughters!)

Look at it this way. Less brew days. Same smell/mess just longer. Less shop bought beer. Happy Husband. How can see resist...

I've discovered that running the boiler is great for stripping wallpaper! lucky we are redecorating. Boilers days inside are definately numbered.

You could also create a great steam room although I'm not sure the steam created is so good for unblocking pores.

    Planning:Maybe a lager.

ok was all done and packed up by 10am but was forced out of the door by the other half... can now post images (if I can get the code right!)
Was surprised at how nice the smell from the Northern Brewer was! All looking (and smelling wonderful!)

Hmmm .. thinking now about those northern brewer hops I have left... does anyone have any experience of using then for dry hopping? Wondering if I should put them in with the secondary.

No, I've only dried hopped once. I personally would see what it smells like after primary fermentation. I can't 30g of dry hops doing any harm though as they will only really had aroma.

    Planning:Maybe a lager.

Hmmm .. good plan! I hope to transfer to secondary on thursday evening... I'll give it a sniff then :o)
I'm supposing that the wonderful tangerine smell is coming from the progress .. if that's the case I'll have to get some more of those. I bought a first gold rhizome at the weekend (as its a dwarf plant - some dwarf being 2.5 m!) I hope I get as good an aroma from them!

Ok .. all bottled and due to circumstances beyond my control (well the missus really and she is way beyond my control) it's been in the secondary for two weeks.

Clear and sharp with a bitterness I can still taste 15 mins after drinking it and I only had a sip!

    Quite pleased :o)

Thinking I may change the name and label - watch this space!

Yes indeed .. bottling being the hard part, still... it's a labour of love :o)
I know for sure I'll not be able to wait the min 2 weeks before cracking a couple open. I originally thought that I'd send these off pretty much immediately but now thinking that I'd like to try it first in case it's poisonous :o)
My ginger beer is still sending wonderful smells across the kitchen... I saw something recently that said that smell is the strongest memory jerker.. and I can agree with that tonight. I haven't smelt that for years.. now that I'm getting the alcohol smell with the ginger and lemon .. bubbling away very nicely. Wish I'd remembered the sultanas though!
I've just set up beersmith for the latest - using your extra pale malt Greg ... coming out at 8EBC .. I've never made anything as pale as that. That's my half-term brew (fitted in with building this and mending that and going here - none of which is my choice lol)
Christ I'm rambling .. must be getting tired!
    Night all!
