Home brew isn't bubbling
Hi all,
I kicked off my Coopers Ginger Beer saturday afternoon and with all this wonderful weather I thought it would start fermenting by now. Close to two days on. I've had a look and the mixture looks exactly like it did when it was intially mixed (following the instructions). I've given it a good stirring yesterday but still no action?
Have I done something wrong? It is in the shed currently but the temperature is about 21.
Is there anything I can do to get the Yeast going?
In the Barrel - Golden Ale (woodfords)
In the Fermenter - Elderflower wine
Drinking - Nothing home made

Hi Starkie, I've done that kit once and it was quite slow to start from what I can remember. I would leave it for another 24 hrs and if still no sign pitch some more yeast. You could also check with a hydrometer to make sure that nothing is happening.
Fermenting:
Conditioning:Pale with Styrians
Drinking:Cascade Pale Ale, Summer Lightning

Hi Greg,
Cheers for the info. When you say pitch some yeast do you mean add another satchet of yeast?
Sorry if thats a silly questions?
I'll give it another 24 hrs though

Yep pitching just means to wang the yeast in!
Conditionin' - LEB Pale
Conditionin' - Thwaits Nutty Black
Plannin' - A user upper!

Is it possible that the beer was too hot when you originally put the yeast in? I'm just thinking that if the hydrometer shows no sign that any fermentation has taken place, maybe either the yeast was killed by heat or maybe wasn't viable to start with.

Thanks for all the replies
Typically I got back from work just now and the beer is starting to bubble very very very gently! This morning nothing was happening at all.
Cheers for the advice though, seems I was just jumping the gun.
