MintyHelp! Where did the beer go

1 year ago | Minty (Member)

Hello Chaps,

saw the pictures of your brew set up Nath and I was wondering where you found you small tube heater, the only ones I can seem to find are long ones you would use in a greenhouse.

One other thing to get off me chest, why is it that every time I find a good bottle of beer in the supermarket I go back the week after to get some more its gone!!

I found a while ago a beautiful one from Innes & Gunn it had been furmented in old whiskey barrels, the best I have ever tasted(went down well with steak) kept looking for it but it had vanished, can anyone tell me what kind of numpties they employ when it comes to the type of beer they stock.

OOOHHH that feels better!

Cheers

Minty

I went to http://WWW.toolstation.com and onto heaters. I think I paid 14 quid so not too bad. I know what you mean about shops changing beers but ya gota think if they didn't do some sort of stock rotation we would never try any new beers!

    Nath,

Good point well made!! thanks for the tip off will give them a go. Talking of bottle brew what would you say is your favorite session bottle? mine would have to be Tangle Foot from the boys at Badger followed by Maplemoon by Joseph Holt. Im very lucky as I dont live that far from a Hall & Woodhouse pub where the tangle Foot is always on tap! what do the rest of you have as your fav bottle?

    Cheers

    Nath,

Found a heater for 12.95 from QVS that takes care of the warm side of things can I ask how do you regulate the cooler temprerature needed ie 18-20 only ask as I have just found 2 bargain fridges and will soon be setting them up.

    Cheers

Sorry about the wait been on hols! I went here - http://www.forttex.com and grabbed me an ATC800 (now replaced with the atc800+) to control my temp. Basically you plug the fridge into the cold side the heater in the hot side and put the probe in the fridge, set the temp and jobs done.

A lot of people also use the tc10 instead (on that site aslo). It looks like a nightmare to wire up but, as ive said before, I'm no electrician and mines been working for over a year with no fires!

Have a look at my thread here to see an overview on how I done it - http://www.brewuk.co.uk/forum/topic/buiding-a-brewfridge#post-1662

    Good luck!

Manflu....... deadly (to women that is!)

Unfortunatly the only beer I could hunt down was San Miguel and Erstella Damn. But (even though I said I would never drink lager again) it was nice to have a cold lager when it was 34c and uber-humid.

be good to see the shed transformation. I wished I put some insulation in mine, good luck with that!
