Help retrieving a hydrometer
Ive done something silly i think .I used my hydrometer in the demijohn with turbo cider in to take the reading to see if its finished fermenting.
So i drops the hyd into the cider only to realise that as the cider is not that close to the top of demijohn i can get it out .Now this is ok as its sterilised but if i rack off and leave it in there will it not sink hit the bottome then smash as the liquid leaves that vessel.

LOL! I have come close to this, but never done it....yet! At least on the upside you'll get a constant up-to-date reading of your brew!
Brewing: Harvest Stout / Zinfandel Rose
Conditioning: Milestone Homewrecker / Lots of wine!
Next: Harvest Bitter / Country Elderberry

If you are really concerned, would it be worth adding some liqid (not neccessarily water) so that it floats to within reach ?

Ideally you would have filled that demi to the top with apple juice the initial fiesty fermentation as airspace can lead to oxidation.
I've very nearly done what you have. I would just leave it now and recover when you bottle.
