Can anyone help? I brewed my 3rd Woodfordes kit around 3 to 4 weeks ago and I thought it was fermenting in its barrel, however its been flat as hell depsite keeping it inside. I decided to add some gas tonight but to my horror heard a hissing from the cap. I tentaivley removed it only to see my rubber seal in the bottom of the barrel. I've retrived it and put the cap back on....what I need to know is my Xmas brew knackered or will it still kick in? As the seal hasn't been on albeit the cap tight will any air have spolied my brew. All this bang on XMAS

Help guidence or confirmation that its knackered greatfully welcomed.

It should be okay. Get the seal back on, apply lots of vaseline and also check the nut it tight on the back of the valve. Then put in back on and add some co2.

I think it will be fine.

Not sure if my rubber seal is knackered as when I re gassed it still sounded as though it was leaking, to make things worse I think some vaseline had dropped into my barrel. Great! Just what I didn't need right on Xmas. I'll keep an eye on it over the next few days

Hi there. Sorry about your misfortune but you can get replacement seals. Obviously not today! If it's the white rubber seal in the cap, put some boiling water from a kettle into a container and drop the seal in for 3 or 4 minutes. This should make it swell up and go back to it's correct shape. All you can do is try.

If you're not living on the edge..... you're taking up too much space!!

Planning: - To get some more brews on now the weather's a bit cooler
    Fermenting: - Ginger Beer experiment
Conditioning: - A normal bitter with Styrians
    Drinking: - All of it!!
