Hello from Yorkshire¬
Hi guys.
My first time brewing, and Greg & Tanya have been superstars with all their advice. Typical me, i go for the hardest brew first time....................lager!!!
However its coming on nicely. Head has now gone and I'm just about ready to transfer to sealed tank for 2 weeks in the garage before bottling!
Keep up the good work guys, I'm sure I'll be on here asking for advice .................a lot!
Cheer
Mike

Hi Mike
What lager did you do? Any extras put in there or a different kind of yeast maybe??? I am trying to find an "authentic" lager tasting lager so it would be great to see what yours turns out like!

Hi Nath
At the moment it was just the Coopers australian lager whilst i get used to brewing, with 1kg additional sugar.
I was just going to leave this to brew for a week and then bottle. But having spoken to Greg, he reccommended a week/2 weeks in a sealed vat to cold ferment (my garage basically). Although I didnt do this, he also reccommened a "lager" strain of yeast.
But tbh, the smell of it, is more lager than ale( dont know if thats just me wanting it to smell like lager lol).
Like I say its going into the sealed fermenter for 2 weeks before bottling. So i will let you know how it goes. At the moment my head has gone bubbles are about stopped :o)
cheers

Sounds good. Next time try a lager yeast and brew at a lower temp. I did a coopers euro (which comes with a lager yeast) but used s23 yeast and brewed it at a constant 15c. The result was a much more lagery lager! Crisper and less "fruity" than using an ale yeast. My next kit project will be a gordie lager kit (cheapest lager kit!) with some sazz hops added dry using a lager yeast fermented at a low temp.
