Hi Calum,
Great to (not) see a new face! Kit brewing is brilliant, quick, easy and a lot of kits produce great results. Keep AG in mind though, as soon as you taste your first your brain will be like "lckefho;hwruiovgiopbrph".
OH yeah..... Its THAT good!
What kits have you done so far then?
Conditionin' - LEB Pale

Hi Calum...
Welcome to the world of homebrewing... I've only been doing it a couple of months now and just done my second brew. However, there is a wealth of knowledge on this forum and some very good advice too.
What kind of kits have you been doing? As mentioned AG is fun to do as well. The smells that come from the kitchen or where ever you brew up is amazing.
Good luck.. and keep us informed on how you're getting on. Nice to know there are other people on here..

In response to nath812 and Beermonkey's questions "What kits have you done so far then?", "What kind of kits have you been doing?"
So far I have been using kits by Brupaks and have found the results to be very good:
Beers of the World - Scottish 80 Shilling
Beers of the World - London Bitter/Yorkshire Bitter (It was one of them all I know is it was nice ^^)
But I have decided to upgrade my production because 10 litres just isn't enough ;P, I have purchased a 25 litre fermenter and I am going to try Young's Harvest Bitter 40pt, anyone know if its anygood?

I've not tried those yet but they're on my list of things to brew.
My first batch was a Beers of the World - Old London Porter and it was fantastic i have to admit.
I'm using 10 litres at the moment but as you say it's just not enough. So i think i'll be investing in 25 litres soon.
Not tried the Youngs Harvest Bitter to be honest.
Thanks

I havnt tried that one. I used to buy coopers stuff as that is alays drinkable! I did a real ale to begin with and although a bit harsh, still a good pint. The wherry is an amazing piece of homebrew if you like bitters.
I have been through the 10 to 25ltr stage and now my brew area (shed!) has 3 kegs, 90+ bottles and enough fermenters to swing a monkey in!
Its a hobby that keeps on growing!
The way to do it is to keep a rolling stock so if you fnish a keg/load of bottles you have another waiting so you can ferment and condition that while drinkin the other and so on and so on!

'Its a hobby that keeps on growing!'
Hmmm .. and I think valentines day might not be happening in our house this year. I had that same 'discussion' with the missus only this morning.

Tony, spoil her rotten on Valentines day and she may let you get a brew in. Sneak a double brew day in and you'll be laughing for a few weeks.

:o)
I think I'll take your advice Greg! I'll do exactly that - although a double brew may be pushing it a bit. I'm supposed to be building an all-singing, all dancing computer station with shelves and lights and all manner of marvelous things. I'll fit it in around that at some point in the week (week after next is half term!)
Thanks! Now .. what to get her that won't be the wrong size, colour, shape, label etc etc!

Hey. Yesterday I paid for my missus to go and get her hair done. A very astute 'investment' as it happened. What did it get me? - a green card from NOON to:-
Go to the pub to enjoy Liverpool winning the Merseyside Derby,
...stay in the pub for a few games of pool
...stay in the pub to watch Ireland v Italy
...go to my favourite Indian for a slap-up feed
...round the night off with some pints - a great day all told.
The point I'm meandering towards is that after the pub a few of us launched into my homebrew (Lager, an AG version of the BrewUk Summer Ale recipe and my own Munich Dunkel recipe). This was the first time I'd treated a wider audience to the fruits of my labour. It went down an absolute storm. Everyone raved about it. That, Calum - welcome by the way - is what makes it all worth it. It was quite an emotional moment I must say. Though the emotion might have been to do with the 16-20 pints interspersed with numerous glasses of wine and brandies that I'd enjoyed during the course of the day.
I'll post up the Munich Dunkel recipe when I get round to it. I'm inexplicably under the weather today....
Conditioning (Bottles): Sam Adams Boston Lager Clone
Drinking (Bottles): Sierra Nevada Pale Ale Clone
Drinking (King Keg): McMullen's Country Best Bitter

:o) Bazza!
Excellent! My Sunday was rounded of by seeing my beloved Arsenal get beaten two nil away to chelsea. I think we've forgotten how to win games against the big boys - hopefully we'll remember by Wednesday! :o)
Still the missus has wised up a little - and although she doesn't know how to say sorry, she knows she was in the wrong .. and that is worth at least one brewday :o)
Onward an upward!

I remember the first time I had a few of my lager drinking friends round for a few beers. I had brewed a load of extract pale ale but thought I had better get some Stella's in too in case they weren't that keen seeing it was home brewed ale.
The next day all the home brew was gone and the stella hadn't been touched. 2 of said friends are not avid home brewers and all now drink ale regularily so not only converted to ale but home brew too.
I was pretty confident on my beers from then on and that was before I started AG.

My other half helped out with my second brew. In fact she more or less took over which annoyed me some what seeing as the homebrew is hallowed turf for us men. However, after i'd calmed down i let her have a go and she really enjoyed it.
I've had good response so far from my first brew compared to Guiness which i was shocked about.
Question is am i mad for letting my other half have a go? Or should i welcome her with open arms into the world of homebrew too?

Welcome her in. Hopefully she will also get bitten by the bug then it will be brewdays/equipment gallore! Just make sure that you do your own brews and let her do her own otherwise you won't get a look in.
Obviously also tell her that her beer is the best/she is amazing at brewing/girls are great etc. Which of course is true ;o)

Oh yeah believe me i've learn't that lesson fast.
I did let her have a bash. I don't think she realised just how much fun it could be. I think she thought it was going to be another boring bloke hobby. How wrong was she...
