I live in beverley, if there's any other Yorkshirefolk in these here parts O_o

Anyway...

Hi!

I make beer with my friend Nick... We started on 11 June 2006 with one of those horrible John Bull Bitter kits that set us back... oh... a fiver! Needless to say, it turned out badly... Then on the 5th of March 2008, we did our first proper brew with GRAINS! Lovely! We've mostly alternated between Bitters and Dark Ales, but not we've got the stuff clear enough to see through, well, we'll try something paler!

Oh, do you like our logo?

I assure you, it's a joke... But I can't help feeling that perhaps it shouldn't be

Hi Mark and welcome to the forum.

Logo looks great. Like you way you know the exact date you both popped your AG cherry. Nearly the Anniversary, Perhaps a special Anniversary brew is in order!

You should try some Pale ales. You can get a really good feel for the hops. I'm the opposite to you and brew Pales almost exclusively. I'm planning a Porter next though which will be a first.

Planning: IPA of some kind + another bitter + Xmas Beer
    Fermenting: FFF Moondance
    Conditioning: I can't remember (Porter)
Drinking:Turbo Cider, Ringwood 49Er Clone, Summer Lightning, Elderflower Champagne

Hey, and cheers for the welcome!

I'm organisationally obsessed! I have spreadsheets documenting the exact dates of brewing, secondary fermentation, bottling etc for each brew... I document ingredients, adjuncts, hops, sugars, all with quantities in grammes... It might be a little over-the-top, but it means that if we make a really good brew, we should be able to exactly reproduce it!

And I ordered £60 worth of anniversary presents yesterday, a special brew is exactly what we're planning! We definitely want to move into paler beers to get a feel for them, I'll let the good people of this forum know what happens!

Hey there, there's a few of us in Hull. If you use facebook search for Hull-a-brew, we're currently made up of a few brewers that frequent The Wellington Inn, possibly Hull's best real ale pub.
I've just started at the end of 2009 and on my third batch. Drinking the Amarillo IPA as I type.
Got a great book from library recently about EXTREME brewing and think i'm going down that route. Fancy making another batch of the Amarillo IPA next but with a BIG dry hop to punch up the aroma.
