Freezing yeast
Hi all
racked my mead earlier today and wanted to try keeping the yeast as it was one I got from Brewlabs. I washed some of the slurry and mixed up 50% glycerin, 25% yeast & 25% water and it's gone in the freezer. Anyone else tried this and had any success?
Oh .. and as a sidenote: I also racked my chilli wine and I think I may have used too many chillis
Beer will get you through the times of no money better than money will get you through the times of no beer

Heh heh .... excellent. I love chilli and will always seek out the hottest food available... but... I did burn my mouth racking this one
That's a great link Simon, I think I followed someone's abbreviated version of that. I poured off some slurrey and allowed it to settle, poured off most of the mead from the top and then added about 500ml of boiled and cooled water. Mixed it up and allowed it to settle again - pouring off the water.
If this works I'm going to try saving all my yeasts this way. I've just checked on it and it hasn't frozed, its still liquid.... is that how it's supposed to be?
