I believe brewing sugar is glucose whereas granulated sugar is sucrose.

No doubt someone will be along shortly with advice about finings, personally I only use Irish Moss in the boil.

Planning: Wheat beer fermented with Schneider Weisse yeast, a Stout, lots of hoppy pale ales
    Fermenting: Marynka pseudo-lager
    Maturing/Conditioning:
Drinking: Wheat beer, ESB, Vienna lager & shop bought stuff

    Sorry, completely missed this one!

Righty ho - Off we go!

yep glucose is brewing sugar and sucrose is normal granulated sugar. Glucose is used to "up" the abv in some breweries. I would use Brewers sugar if you have it, if not sugar will work fine and you can use it as a benchmark either way.

Your wherry kit has maltextract in the tin so no need for either (apart from kegging/bottling where you need a small amount of one or the other, such a small amount it wont affect the taste/smell)

What finnings have you used? Hamish is an all grain brewer so we use irish moss (or protofloc....lovely lovely protofloc) in our brews when we are boiling away. I suspect you will have a liquid packet or gelatine powder that you would add at some stage to the brew, tell us which one it is and we will be able to help.

Suggestions - Keep everything clean, dont panic if it dos not start fermenting in the first day. Beer wants to be beer but takes its own time to do so! Oh and have fun!

    Sorry it took so long

Drinkin' - nowt, it's all gone

Loads a beer after an upgrade!

So much more concise than my one line effort.

By the way Nath, got me some Protafloc tablets!

    HI Chaps
The finings are Ritchies wine&beer finings.in a 114ml bottle.I have the instructions which say mix & leave
in a cool place,2 teaspoons per 4.5lts but its going in a barrel and secondery fermentation says room temp
for a week.Iam thinking it will drop the yeast before is pressured the barrel?is it worth doing.just sampled
the brew and it looks clear iam thinking maybe not.Cheers

Personally I would not bother with finnings. The beer will clear by itself given time and the less products you put in the better as far as I'm concerned.

Sorry for not replying earlier, been a bit too busy just recently.

+1 to greg and your last reply cornwall, the only time I used finnings (gelatine in my case) was with a lager but to be honest it didnt really need it. All beers will clear given time and as yours is clear now.....Why bother!

Do you livin in Cornwall? My parents live down there right at the bottom, love it.

To be honest I like my homebrew to be a tiny bit cloudy, then it's crystal clear it's harder for your friends to believe you made it yourself

Conditioning: Witbier Mashkit & St Peters Ruby
    Drinking: Tea
Planning: Rauchbier & German Pilsner Mashkit

I like mine to be crystal clear but when mates come over its better cloudy so you can have more for yourself and just tell em that "it's not quite ready yet"!
