Tweak the pressure release band (on the cap) for a sec or two and then move that bad boy to somewhere cold so the beer can absorb some co2, dont release all the co2 but a second blast should do it. Good bit of the old pressure you have there!

The trouble is I've got the cap on the barrel with the co2 bulb fitting, can I simply loosen the cap slightly? I didn't know what the other cap was, so I swapped them over

You will still have a release band somewhere as its a saftey thing.
Its the white band at the top, though yours may look different. Failing that draw a pint off!

Ok, I'll check it when I get in. How does it work? How do I make it release?
Otherwise, I'll just have to draw a pint...

I just tweak it with my finger nail, you may need to tweak in different places until you hear the co2 escape.

OK, cheers nath, sorted. Moved him to a cool spot in the house, released a short burst of Co2 from the white band.....and drew a pint off
Not bad, not bad at all! Now, if I could just see my hand through it...

Yeah but the others are really really long (to ensure maximum bogey removal).

Fine fine fine. I used a wood nail.
Damn you Hamish - I posted that about 2 months ago, either you have a great memory or have a very strange desktop picture!

Hellooooo!
Returned from mums yesterday (after a six hour trip from northants- usually an hour and a half!) and immediately went to check on keg. Id turned the rad off in the dining room so the temp had gotten down to about 10 degrees.
What is the ideal cool temp for conditioning? Obv now were home the temp has crept up, reckon it's going to be around 15-16 average.

I think anywhere form 10-15c is fine. Cask ale should be poured at 13c ish (arcording to camra) so if your that anal, try for that!
