1.000 is very, very low. I'd be surprised if a 5.2% beer would go that low. Are you sure it's not 1.010? Never made one, but yeast will usually only convert up to 80% of the sugar, so it should never go below about 1.004, and 1.000 means all the sugar has been converted. How long has it been fermenting?
Planning: - To get some more brews on now the weather's a bit cooler
Fermenting: - Ginger Beer experiment
Conditioning: - A normal bitter with Styrians
Drinking: - All of it!!

Thats what I thought too saracen I used two hydros and then tested them both in water same fig with both of them. Lowest I have ever seen in a kit is 1.003 and 1.004 I started this one on the 9th. I was wondering if it was because of the temp but checked that too and its well in spec
Worried of Wales

Stop worrying, Wales. It is what it is. It's been fermenting a long time, so it would be very low, but not that low. The hydros should read exactly the same in the water as in the beer for your 1.000 to be right. If the beer was 32°c and read 1.000, then the correct SG would be 1.004.
Best not to operate any heavy machinery when drinking it.

Just had a word with Youngs very helpful droping to 1.000 is known for that kit What you have to do is keep an eye on it and try to catch it at between 1.006 and 1.004 then keg it and let it get on with it or you may have too little CO2 for a good pint. As for the hydros I did test them under temp controled conditions, its handy having a smal lab in the house, and they seem to be giving a treu reading. And as you say I will keep away fro heavy plant when drinking it

See? No problem. 60 - 70 gm of priming sugar and you're away.

I found that a lot of the 1 can kits I did always fermented lower - due to the fact I used household sugar instead of malt extract.
Proper headache on after a night of that beer matey

Ah! Yes! Of course. Household sugar. As I never use it, I didn't think of it.

Right. That might explain a few things that have been going a bit odd lately, especially with propogating yeast. I was beginning to think that maybe sugar isn't as pure as they would have you believe. Can't see why their own brand should be any different to the others, though.... unless it's one of these special low calorie ones.
