Draining after fermentation
OK i'm new to the site so sorry if this has been mentioned before.
i have always siphoned off my beer from the fermenting bin to get the brew away from the initial yeast and have found its nigh impossible to do this without a little disturbance and some yeast gets through the tube.
what i have done to assist keeping the yeast from the beer is put a large hop bag (sterilized) over the receiving bin and it strains the yeast particles out but leaves enough in the beer to let it be primed OK.
this helps secondary fermentation and clearing the beer.

I've never worried about a small amount going from primary into secondary. I give the beer at least a week in secondary and most bits drop out before bottling.
I'd be careful when using the hop bag over the secondary as it might get a little too much air into the brew. There's no reason that you shouldn't put the bag over the end of the tube though as long as there not too much of a drop.
Hmm, hope that makes sense!

I siphon via one of the floats out of my Beersphere and I can stop the siphoning just above the muck.
