Hi guys

After finishing my punk IPA clone and being plescently surprised with the outcome I began thinking of steering away from IPA's for my next brew

But can decide on what to brew

I want something around 4% abv and low IBU's using speciality grains and extract

Any ideas or recipes ?

Thanks

    A few ideas for you...

You'll need some software to workout how many hops to add.

    Single hop pale ale

2.5kg light or extra light DME
    250g Carapils, 100g Crystal malt - steeped
    Hop of your choice
    IBU's of your choice
Half the remaining hops last 10 minutes
All of remaining hops steeped for 30 minutes after you turn off the heat
    US-05 yeast

    Wheat beer

    3kg wheat DME
    Hallertauer Hersbrucker
    15 IBU's
    Danstar Munich or Wyeast 3068

    German black beer

    2.5kg dark DME
    200g Crystal malt, 50g Carafa 1 - steeped
    Northern brewer - bittering
Hallertauer Hersbrucker 30g last 5 minutes
    25 IBU's
    Danstar Nottingham

Planning: Wheat beer fermented with Schneider Weisse yeast, a Stout, lots of hoppy pale ales
    Fermenting: Marynka pseudo-lager
    Maturing/Conditioning:
Drinking: Wheat beer, ESB, Vienna lager & shop bought stuff

The Tony's Twibute clone is good. It's darker than a pale ale is but still more about the hops than malt. Not a hop bomb and easy on the bitterness. There's also the Fuller's Discovery clone that's low in bitternes and a subtle hop flavour. Both recipes available on this forum.

I was thinking of doing a 100% wheat beer with BIAB sometime soon. Just using standard yeast instead of a wheat yeast. Just for a crack!

Planning: Something with Styrians, Discovery Clone
    Fermenting:
    Condtioning:
    Drinking: Twibute Clone, PJ Clone

Hi Sam. I think go with Hamish. He knows what he's on about.
You could also look through Graham Wheeler's book, "Brew your own British Real Ale". There are extract recipes for all sorts in there.
I came up with an extract recipe for Summer Lightning here:
    http://www.brewuk.co.uk/forum/topic/summer-lightning-extract-brew-help-required-new-member
By all accounts it was very successful.

If you're not living on the edge..... you're taking up too much space!!

Planning: - To get some more brews on now the weather's a bit cooler
    Fermenting: - Ginger Beer experiment
Conditioning: - A normal bitter with Styrians
    Drinking: - All of it!!
