Coopers Ginger beer using sugar
Hi, new to the forum and only on my 4th brew to date. I've got a coopers ginger beer kit in the FV which is bubbling away nicely but need to know how much sugar I need to use when bottling up. I'm going to use 2Ltr PET bottles. Any suggestions greatfully received.

Hi Colin and welcome to the forum.
I would use around 120g for the whole batch.

Greg.

Thanks Greg, hi Nath, when yo say 120g for the whole batch should that go into the bottles, e.g 12g in each as there is going to be 10 2ltr bottles, or can I add it to the FV prior to bottling?

If you want to (and its my preferred choice) then get the sugar boil for 10 mins in a small water so it becomes a liquid then add to a second fv when room temp, then syphon the beer off to the fv.
After that syphon (or use bottling stick) to bottles and cap.
If you don't then its a case of measuring the 12g and just tipping it in to each bottle. Both ways are fine, and as you only have 12 bottles it may be easier tipping the required amount in.

I know it's a litle expensive but I use Cooper Carbonation Drops. Just put one of the drops into each 500ml bottle and fill with your bestest beer!
It's never let me down.

Hi all
Whats an FV. Reason I ask I will be doing this same coopers ginger kit later today. Would it be best to bottle it at the end or will it be ok sat in a king keg and use sugar instead of the suggested carb drops.

Hi Gilt, FV stands for fermentation Vessel, ie a plastic brewing bucket in most peoples case.
