co2 injectors
Is this a good way to add fizz to my beer? its tasting great with the ingrediants and method im using but its missing the fizz of good ol lager. Ive heard of many ways to add fizz but the one available in my local area is the co2 injecter/ connecter to pressurisation vessel with co2 bulbs. just wanna know if this is a good way and in fact how to use it thank you.

Hi there!
It depends on what your storing your beer in. If its a plastic keg then unfortunatly you wont get "that" lager fizz. The plastic kegs just cant cope with the pressure needed. 2 ways of doing it it to bottle some or to buy corny kegs. These will allow you maintain a higher pressure which is needed for the beer to become "fizzy".
The co2 bulbs you are talking about are prbably the ones used to re-introduce c02 into a keg when the pressure has gone after time.

is it safe and ok to use to add a bit of fizz to it? i add sugar before storing following the instructions but it just hardly does anything even a bit of fizz would be more thn enough.

What have you got it in? If its a plastic barrel then you could add a co2 bulb but the pressure relief vent would get rid of any excess co2 the barrel cant handle. Is it somewhere cold? The beer will take on more co2 quicker if its stored at fridge temp.

They are useful to have but it wont provide the fizz your looking for unfortunatly. They are just there to enable you to "top-up" on the co2 lost during the beers life in the barrel. Id get one as you will use it anyway.
You can change the tops while the beer is in the keg, but dont change it until you run out of pressure (you will tell this when the beer wont come out of the barrel).
You can also get another type of barrel top like that that takes the soda stream type canisters (normally found from a local brew shop) These work out cheaper than using the one-time bulbs.
heres the bulb ones- http://www.brewuk.co.uk/store/containers/barrelsbarrels/2-cap-complete-with-pin-valve.html and here with 2 bulbs - http://www.brewuk.co.uk/store/containers/barrelsbarrels/co2-injector-system-2-c-w-2-x-8-grm-bulb.html
And here is the one which takes the larger, refilable gas canisters - http://www.brewuk.co.uk/store/containers/barrelsbarrels/2-cap-complete-with-s30-valve.html
