adampBrakspear Oxford Gold

G'day folks,

Don't know about everyone else, but I reckon that Brakspear's Oxford Gold is bloody beautiful. I'm planning my next brew and would love to go down that line... can anybody point me in the direction of a kit that would give me a beer with similar characteristics?

I think that's going to be difficult. The descriptions I can find of it probably mean it would be reasonably straightforward coming up with an AG recipe as they are quite free with malt and hops information, but it seems a lot of the character comes from their yeast, and as the beer no longer seems to be bottle conditioned, it's unlikely you'd ever get it. GW has an extract recipe in his book 'Brew your own British Real Ale' for Brakspear Bitter and Brakspear Special. You could do an extract brew of Brakspear Bitter and modify it from there.

If you're not living on the edge..... you're taking up too much space!!

Planning: - To get some more brews on now the weather's a bit cooler
    Fermenting: - Ginger Beer experiment
Conditioning: - A normal bitter with Styrians
    Drinking: - All of it!!

Thanks Saracen, I'll give it a go once I've got a few more under my belt.

Breakspear Bitter has to be a favourite of mine. How they cram that much flavour in 3.8% is beyond me, a really nice balanced pint.

Drinkin' - nowt, it's all gone
    Plannin'-
Loads a beer after an upgrade!
