Just got a Wherry [funked up version] in the FV and will be bottling on the weekend but.....

Most of the beers I have done so far leaves a white residue in the bottom of the bottle. I have even left the beer in the FV more than advised but it still seems to appear.

Is this a natural process of brewing? Can this be reduced or got rid of?

    Yeast!, its all perfectly natural.

Planning: Wheat beer fermented with Schneider Weisse yeast, a Stout, lots of hoppy pale ales
    Fermenting: Marynka pseudo-lager
    Maturing/Conditioning:
Drinking: Wheat beer, ESB, Vienna lager & shop bought stuff

How long has it been in the FV?
If you leave it for 2 to 3 weeks you'll find it will be a lot clearer when you bottle it. You will still get the white yeast layer at the bottom of the bottle, but not so much. On the other hand, because there will be less yeast left in suspension when you bottle, it will take longer to condition, probably an extra week.

If you're not living on the edge..... you're taking up too much space!!

Planning: - To get some more brews on now the weather's a bit cooler
    Fermenting: - Ginger Beer experiment
Conditioning: - A normal bitter with Styrians
    Drinking: - All of it!!
