LozBeer kit that are quite light tasting?

9 months ago | Loz (Member)

Hi,
I'm quite overwhelmed by the choice of beer kits available, & would like a bit of advice for a really lovely light tasting lager/ale.

Something really refreshing that slips down easily, with a smack of the lips - that sort of thing.

Cheers!

There are loads to choose from. If you go to the top of the page and click on "Shop Home" then "Shop" and "Beer Kits" you'll find enough to keep you going for ever. How about this

    http://www.brewuk.co.uk/store/beerkits/coopers-mexican-cerveza-1-7kg.html

Get a Muntons Beer Kit Enhancer to use with it rather than just sugar and you should produce a good beer.
Or there's this if you fancy having a go with extract and hops.

    http://www.brewuk.co.uk/store/beerkits/golden-lager-recipe-pack.html

Another one, this time a 2 can (3 kg) kit where you don't need sugar. These are the best as you are using all malt.

    http://www.brewuk.co.uk/store/beerkits/st-peters-golden-ale-3-0kg.html

Then there are the extract recipe kits. You will need to have a pot of about 9 - 10 lts capacity for boiling these up.

And, of course, the one that makes the headlines, Way To Amarillo

    http://www.brewuk.co.uk/store/beerkits/amarillo-recipe-pack.html

All very simple and all make good beer.

If you're not living on the edge..... you're taking up too much space!!

Planning: - To get some more brews on now the weather's a bit cooler
    Fermenting: - Ginger Beer experiment
Conditioning: - A normal bitter with Styrians
    Drinking: - All of it!!

Thanks, plenty to check out there!

After reading further I think for now I'll stick to the single packs, although I will certainly look into getting more hands-on in future.

Any more recommendations for single kits?

I assume it's generally a good idea to use a beer enhancer by default?

    Thanks!

    Hi Loz
I see at the moment you are drinking and fermenting lager.
If you want a decent 1 can kit go for the Coopers lager, their Australian kit with the green lid is their most populest. You can use beerkit enhancer of 1kg or go with Muntons light spraymalt 500g and 500g brewing sugar. Or if you want to experiment a bit go with the cheap old reliable Geordie and chuck in whatever takes your fancy eg - spraymalt, hops, honey, syrup etc

    Planning-Connoiseur Johannisberg Riesling
    Fermenting-Nowt
Conditioning-Proper Job Comp Beer,Kenridge White Merlot
    Drinking-Raspberry/Lime cider,Grenache Blush Rose,Coopers modified lager
    SG Chardonnay Wine

Sweet thanks, I think my next session will be the Mexican & Coopers... jury's still out on the third FV....

I'm interested in the honey additions, I love Waggle Dance et al, so am about to search the forum for a post on additives.

    Thanks again Saracen & Mark.

    Hi Loz
The Geordie kit that Mark has mentioned was the first lager kit that I done and it was ok. Done it again this March but added beer enhancer and dry hopped and what a difference it made. EDME lager kit is another kit that I have had good results from.

Planning - Single Hop Pale Ale.
    Fermenting - Coopers Canadian Blonde
Conditioning - Coopers Pilsner, Coopers English Bitter
    Drinking - None

If you want to experiment but save pennies then you could always go for the value kits - like the geordie range then just add different yeasts/hops/malts etc.

Drinkin' - nowt, it's all gone
    Plannin'-
Loads a beer after an upgrade!
