User has not uploaded an avatarBeer a little flat?

11 months ago | tudou (Member)

It's been 3 weeks in the keg so far, and the taste is quite reasonable. When I pour it a ton of foam comes out, but drinking the actual ale... it tastes a little flat. I can still see bubble on the side of the glass but I'm wondering if it could have done with more sugar (I followed the instructions).

If I use the small CO2 cylinder with the keg (the one that comes with the kit), would this help fizz it up a bit or is this just not a particularly gaseous beer?

Thanks.

The beer is "Woodfordes Wherry Premium Beer kit".

So keg beer is going to be a little flat then, compared to say what you would get pulled in a pub (even ales?).

Would the addition of the extra gas from the CO2 cylinder help?

Yeah. I mean it's not totally flat, but not quite as fizzy as I would expect. I followed the instructions to a T with regards to quantities. Perhaps it's still a little too early?

about 2 oz sugar in the keg should sort that but from memory I found that one a little flat. Bit like Norfolk really.

5 gal St Peters Golden Ale as per tin
    Youngs Harvest Mild
    all a bit moded
