User has not uploaded an avatarAG equivalent to Summer Ale?

Thinking of trying an AG equivalent to the summer ale as my first AG experiment.
Any idea of how much malt I should use?
Should the boil time and the timings of adding the hops etc. remain the same as in the extract version?
Answers very much appreciated, as new to the whole AG thing.
Thanks

    Hi Freddy,

The best thing to do is download some brewing software like Beer Engine or Beersmith and have a play around with that. You can then quite easily convert any recipe to your equipment.

As far as the Summer ale recipe goes, you will need about 3kg Pale malt (use the software to confirm this to meet target starting gravity) and crystal will remain the same.

The hops will also need to be reduced a bit as you will be doing a full size boil instead of the reduced boil on the summer ale recipe. As you will be boiling the whole brew the gravity in the boil will be lower and therefore more bitterness will be extracted.

If you get stuck then I can probably do the conversions for you but it won't be until Monday as I don't have beersmith at home as I use a mac at home and it doesn't work on that.

    Regards

    Greg
