Brew UK Forum | Beer Kits
About to start - which kit should I go for?
Evening all,
I am about to embark on the monumental purchase of my first brew kit (if you discount the awful Boots kit i tried as a student!), and my question is simple, which kit would you recomend for the best quality. I am tempted by the Wherry, and am even tempted to go straight into extract brewing, but i guess one step at a time... I would be pleased to hear recomendations for good kits which produce a good full, flavoursome pint.
Thanks in advance.

Wherry (or any woodfordes) for a first time then head on in to extract whilst planning your AG setup

Wherry for a safe bet (use 1/2 a campden tablet to treat the water first tho) or St Peters Ruby red is supposed to be good.

Thanks to you both,
Sounds as though the Wherry is a good starting point. I am intending to buy your Woodfforde's Wherry kit Greg, and have sent the link to my wife (birthday present), so expect an order before long! Just one other question whilst thinking about ordering from you Greg; do you think it would be a good idea to prime the keg with a malt extract or brew enhancer rather than sugar? if so, i would be pleased to hear your recomendations.
I live just outside Marlborough, so will probably come down to Salisbury for some advice on how to progress before too long Greg!

Just use sugar to prime the keg matey, The small amount of sugar you use wont affect the flavour of the beer at all.
