A change of view
Well I've always said that although I'm a real ale drinker I can enjoy a nice cool lager when the sun is around.
#!@$ that! I bought some lager (erstella damn) for inbetween my bitters and pales and .......... NASTY! I love the pales colour, taste and thirst quenchingness (if thats a word) in the sun and I love a darker bitter as and when.
Anyhoo lager is off totally and I will only brew it for when people come over. I just cant believe how tasteless it is compared to basically any pale.
Just thought I would mention it

Nath,
I am with you on that one... I went to a pub last week and all it sold was l**er a choice of 4 Fosters, Stella, Carlsberg, Kroenenberg all around £3.80 a pint! Or Guiness, John Smiths Smooth, or Worthingtons Cream Flow. If it wasn't for the fact i was with my boss who was paying for drinks i'd have walked out.
I don't bother with lager in general all chemicals and no taste what so ever... horrible nasty stuff!

Hamish,
I tried to get my boss to see the error of his ways I.E. no real ale equals not a happy Neil etc.. however, it went over his head. This was HIS favourite pub so we all have to go there.
Normally i'd go to a real ale pub...

Boss + free beer = no complaints.
Unfortunatly I may have told a number of my boss's that ale is the only way, but then who gives a $@!t! when they are paying for it!

Can't stand lager .. but must admit that I've made the mistake of buying John Smith's when no ale is available. That stuff really is p*ss. How on earth do the manage to get all the taste out of it? Quite a skill I would imagine.

I must admit I enjoyed some a few draft San Miquels the other week when I was away on holiday but there was a distinct lack of ale where we were staying so no choice. Apart from that is Real Ale all the way (and the occasional cider!)
Fermenting:
Conditioning:Pale with Styrians
Drinking:Cascade Pale Ale, Summer Lightning
