Oh yeah baby! That whole "chair in front of washing machine" is all part of my AG setup. Beer just wouldnt taste the same if it was in front of, say, and oven or blender.

Cheers Chaps, I'm getting there slowly.
Nath - I did think that when I read your first AG post. Right down to having to use a chair in front of the washing machine, which is how I've been doing my kits this far.

Nice one, I must admit, even though I like my diy boiler I do like the look of stainless.

Oh and I have the same kitchen!

OK, so as promised some pics of the Swan hot water urn I just bought with the intention of getting started on AG brewing.

I measured that pretty much exactly 26 litres gets you up to the MAX mark about 1.5 inches below the rim. Don't know why this surprised me, the clue's in the name I guess.

Fully filled with very cold tap water it took 45ish mins to reach a boil. The tap was a crappy plastic affair which you couldn't leave locked open, so that came off straight away. I happened to have a stainless tap connector in my toolbox which I butchered, and grabbed a 15mm ball valve affair from screwfix. Its watertight, but I think I'll modify so that the braiding is more easily removable.

Here's the whole thing minus its lid

Heres the tap and braid

fitted

and the insides. Haven't worked out how to disconnect the thermostat yet, but continuously having to press the reboil button should be all the encouragement I need...
I think its the little round thing on the middle/left of the second picture.

I'm thinking of giving it a first run with the Summer Ale extract kit which arrived last week (thanks Greg <img src="http://www.brewuk.co.uk/forum/bb-plugins/default/icon_smile.gif" title=":-)" class="bb_smilies" />

Still waiting on my cool box for Amazon to have a crack at making a mash tun too.
