<description>&#60;p&#62;You might also want to give it a good stir, to redistribute the yeast.  Also, whisking the surface will help get some oxygen into it, this helps the yeast perform and get on with the crucial job of making lovely booze.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;If the temperature is still slightly too low try covering the FV with a blanket or two.&#60;/p&#62;

<description>&#60;p&#62;I&#38;#39;ve had this happen before.  18 should be ok but 20 would be better - and even slightly above that to get it started.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;If you can, fill the sink with hot water and sit the FV in it for 30 mins.  That might get the yeast working.  I seriously doubt that you have done any damage to the yeast, it&#38;#39;s only high temperatures that will kill them.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;If all else fails, pitch another yeast - an SO4 or a Nottingham.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Have you had your wort under fermentation lock or just covered?  Exactly how long has it been sitting?&#60;br /&#62;

It has now been 6 days and the yeast is not working - is my brew ruined or can it be salvaged some way. I now have it in a warmer place but it&#38;#39;s still only at 18c at least until I get my heater mat delivered.
