Could've gone either way, really, but I'll take that. My brother-in-law, who's originally from Birmingham, managed to get to the game through his work (lucky git). He's also managing, through his work again, to get to the League Cup final. I really hope for his sake that at least one result goes his way this weekend. What I'm really saying is I hope ManYoo get thumped; I hate them even more than alchopops. As for the nightmare brew day, Nath, it's funny but no matter how frustrating and tedious the process can sometimes be in making a brew, it all seems a distant minor irritation when you're necking the results with great satisfaction. Tony, trouble is its been 5-6 weeks now conditioning so I rekon its a bit of a slippery slope as it tasted fine for the first 2-3 weeks, but I will keep the bottles anyhoo. The APA (on the same day) is fantastic so I rekon it may be the 2nd fermentation that I introduced too much oxygen. Mmmmmmm, brewing day, no missus or kids, lots of beer, rugby and modernwarfare 2. After 2-3 weeks mine developed a caramely taste to it. Give it another week or two and then I have found that has dissapeared (along with most of the brew!!!), and it has developed in to a wonderful malty spitfire like brew. Feel for you on your other brew though, i have just myself recyceld a 40 pint batch of lager down the drain, after 9 weeks had a rank soapy taste to it. Oddly enough I was reading about apple off-tastes (if I remember where I'll paste the link) and it was generally thought that it had something to do with the yeast. Did you use the same yeast for both? Speaking to greg about it and he says there is a apple taste in trhopical. I didnt really notice it first but now the trhopical is getting really apple-y and more harsh. My wherry I brewed a week after seems to be more caramel-y smelling than before and I swear its tasting more apple like. Im unsure whats gone wrong as they both fermented well and tasted fine but its creeping in. I only just tried the wherry so its been 4 weeks and its very clear but the taste is just a little bit off. The only things that link the wherry and trhopical are videne and 2nd fermentation. Maybe I put into secondary too late and it got oxidised? Or maybe its my sterilisation method, I may go back to chloros for my next brew just incase my videne method aint working too well. I know that my shed got damp and I have a mould forming on the inside of the roof but I brew in the house, and pitch and seal the fv and only bring it to the shed when I put it into the brewfridge which is clean and closed so I cant see much chance of infection there. My wherry was brewed and kegged all indoors and has the same problem.
