I don't know about the NZ hops to be honest but I'm going to get a pale ale on the go this weekend with some so watch this space. I think they are going to be similar to American hops, lots of fruit and spice. I'll post the recipe once I've finished.

I think its part of being northern to find as many uses for one item as you can! like a turkey baster from a certain high street store makes a great attachment to a Basic Barrel (http://www.brewuk.co.uk/store/index.php/containers/barrelsbarrels/5-gal-basic-white-barrel-with-s30-cap.html) and gives you a pub style tap for about £1!!

I haven't tried the Nelson Sauvin! but a Beer Brewed with Nelson Sauvin hops in Nelson, Lancashire must be done!

I'm loving the APA! I'm going to be brewing more with american hops they are so flavorsome! now that i've used up all the hops i've had in the freezer for the last seven months! I need to order more! I can see a brew day coming up in the next few weeks just a choice between Pale ale or Wheat beer now!

What are the NZ hops like?

Dan you are a great one for gadget suggestions. The second pint seems to have less floating hops so hopefully it will be okay. To be honest I'm not too bothered anyhow. Dry hopping certainly gives a great hop aroma.

The cascade and willamette have given a lovely grapefruit style flavour, spicy and dry without too much fruitiness.

Have you tried the nelson Sauvin?

I bought a spice ball from lakeland plastics to dry hop, hopefully that will prevent any floating hops!

I'm drinking a pint of my latest beer (APA) with Simcoe, Glacier and those fantastic Amarillo Golds and its got a really nice fruity flavor!

My lastest pale ale has cleared, only been in the barrel 2 weeks. Lovely hoppy flavour which I'm hoping won't fade. First time I have dried hopped straight into into the barrel and do seem to have a few bit of hops floating in the beer, hoping these will sink over time.

Definitely the hoppiest beer I have made so far. The Willamette and Cascade give a really nice, distinct flavour. I also used a Wyeast English Ale which has given a lovely crisp flavour.

Going to try some Rakau this weekend although not sure what to go with it. Perhaps some East Kent Goldings or use up the cascade and willamette from a couple of weeks ago.

There are so many combinations. Oh the joy of home brewing!
